When I just started with blogging just over a year ago, I came to know about Google Adsense and how it works. Actually, I am reading right now the book entitled “
The Google Story” which is also worth recommending for you to read, loyal readers out there. It is an inspiring story and what really struck me was how they came up earning money from just a search engine—that is, Google Adsense.
In Google Adsense you actually earn whenever your website viewers click on your ads. It is kind of exciting for an Adsense earner to be paid five to six figures once you get started in getting your very first click.
There are many guides and tips out there that you may see scattered all over the net like putting Google ads on a web page or you may rest the whole day and you watch your money coming in your bank account or “drive traffic” to your web page. If you are just a beginner, you may ask what is all this. Well, the setback on all of these guides is they always leave out the most important steps. Of course, they will not really give you the real step on how to get the traffic to your site and what traffic types you should go after. They are not still going to let you know which niches will pay or not and they are not giving any information on all the other drawbacks that are encountered by those earning online.
Making money with
Google Adsense is not that simple. You will encounter some problems as you go along the way and the important thing is you need to know and learn what these difficulties are so as to avoid them as much as possible.
Web Page Creation
You must learn first how to create websites or web pages. This is absolutely necessary if you are going to make money in this way. When I started out, I learned the HTML language as I went on creating web pages. I tell you, this is really made up of tedious steps. It will really take much of your time and hard work as you go along the way. But the good news especially if you are still a beginner in creating pages, you may be able to create sites using Blogger or Wordpress, to name a few. Blogger is free all the way and easy to use. Blogger are used by people for family type blogs and if you want to make money using Blogger, it will be very easy on your part.
After learning Blogger, you have the option of learning another similar program called Wordpress. This program allows you to create sites using paid domains thus giving you more allowance and flexibility with your soon-to-be created site. But still many others do not leave Blogger. They still make use of it to create sites and monetizing through Adsense.
Where to Get Traffic
The so-called organic search traffic is the most important thing that you need to know in getting Adsense traffic. Social traffic is not advisable as these visitors will not click on your ads most likely. And if ever they are going to click, they are just simple junk leads for the advertisers purchasing the clicks. Thus, if these people that will click on your ads are not a good match for the advertisers, Google will pay you considerably less than what the people who will provide far better leads.
Those people who are really searching Google for information on a particular topic are the best match for the Adsense ads. If for instance, you are searching on “Where to get a dog food near your area” in Google and your page is about that topic, and CLICK! There, you earn yourself a couple of bucks.
This is a win-win situation for all. The advertiser paid for the right visitor type and you are paid for it. But, social traffic certainly will not be a good fit for this advertiser. Some pet owners may find your page socially, but majority of these social visitors are the people that do not match the needs of this advertiser. This will lower the number of clicks you will be able to get from the social traffic and poor leads are provided consistently for the advertisers. This signifies that Google will pay you less than what they will pay other people that get search traffic.
Obtaining organic search traffic from Google and other search engines is really getting ranked for the keywords that people always search for. If Google and other search engines bring you to the #1 position for a particular popular keyword or phrase, many people are going to click into your site and they are just the people that you really need for your Google Adsense.
The biggest search engines are the Yahoo, Google, and MSN and they are getting lots closer than ever.
Getting ranked in one is almost the same with the other two as they take the same basic strategies. It is important to put the right content on the page using the right amount of
SEO and you can work on obtaining links that will help in building up your rankings. Each search engines make use of links so as to know which of the web pages are the best among others.
Another drawback that may be encountered that is traffic related is having the wrong keywords. If the wrong keywords are chosen, they are not that worth anything at all if they do not give you any traffic. If you are getting $0.01 per click only, it is really a load to make any money at all.
Adsense Optimization
Okay now comes the most interesting part of this topic. The next drawback that may be encountered is not getting just the right amount of people to click on your Google ads. Optimizing your Adsense is a very long process but it is worthwhile in the long run. So if you get more people to click on your ads, you will get paid more from the same number of traffic. Here are a few tips in getting your Adsense optimized properly.
Test placements first. This is the first step that you should be doing. There are normally three main placements that should be in focused. The first is the 336x280 large rectangle that is located above the title of the page; this location is getting a high percentage of the search visitors to make them click an ad. The second is the same rectangle ad unit size consisting of the text page that is wrapped around it. The third is the leaderboard with size 728x90 that is stretched across the top of the page.
But try to test also other dimensions of the Google ads to see which works best for the design of your web page. Try to test each of these three placements; it is that simple. Try to give each placement around 500 impressions of the search traffic worth and of course, you are interested with the placement ad that gets the most clicks.
Next step is test the colors. Okay, once you know which placement will get the most clicks, it is time to test the colors. It is safe to test different colors. In the first try, make the color the same that your site uses for the links. If the links are blue, use blue. If the links are red, use red. The ads will greatly blend in the site and that is a good sign. After testing the matching link color, it is better to test a generic blue, color #OOOOFF. It is believed that this color will work well because this is the color people relate with links. Then test a third color that is exactly the opposite to the color of your site’s links. Also give each color 500 impressions and you will again be interested with the ad that produces the most clicks.
Summary
Upon learning all what you can about Google Adsense, you will then say that making money with Google Adsense is that simple. Keyword research, onsite and offsite SEO, Adsense optimization and even link building should be learned. You will be successful with Adsense if you will be able to learn all of this.
