Some New Year Surviving Tips for You

The New Year is just around the corner and the whole world will celebrate it with much struggle. What I mean by the word struggle is that most of the developed countries are in crisis right now as seen in one of my previous article. Developing countries are also widely affected, though not so much as compared with the developed ones. To survive the struggle this forthcoming year, I am posting some tips for you that I hope may be applicable to you.

Applying this approach to our own individual financing is appropriate now by building up on our savings. The economy is in a downtrend and there will be employment loss, lessening of income, etc. and a plan of increasing savings will really come in handy.

With a good cushion from the savings accumulated, this will help us to be in flow with the hard times. It does not necessarily mean that with good preparation and suitable planning, we will not be able to experience the difficult trials ahead, but instead it will make each one of us more durable for the upcoming “storms”.

Your monthly expenses should be regularly checked against the savings made so that you may make an alternative plan on what to do in case your income suddenly ceases. It is a good sign if the savings you have will make you last for more than a year.

For those with little savings, we must exert that extra effort in increasing up on the savings. The best way is to minimize spending. Tightening of the belts should always be done and a stricter lifestyle should be followed. You may easily minimize spending if you are really definite in achieving your goal. You do not have to sacrifice your lifestyle; all you need to do is be creative.

Also find time to explain to all the members of the family that some things will eventually change in the expenses of the whole family. Make them understand that it is for the best interest of everyone if these important changes are done on how we will live our lives today and in the future. Reduced expenses and surplus outcome will serve as the buffer for the family to prepare ourselves for the bigger trials ahead. Remember that the bigger the savings surplus, the better for all.

For example, you may be able to have a momentous summer vacation in a more affordable place and within the budget against an expensive out of town or out of the country trip. Time with the family during the outing is much more important than the location of the vacations.

Eating home-cooked special meals is better than eating out in restaurants. These meals cooked at home cost little as compared with meals eaten in restaurants. Ways on cutting down the expenses on groceries and other bills will also help.

There are other outstanding ways on cutting down expenses if you really want to. If we are prepared for whatever storm that will come, why would we worry?

Knowing NoFollow and DoFollow

There are many forums and discussions already about the nofollow concept and you may be wondering, if you are a beginner, what in the world it is. Or should we do a nofollow or a dofollow? That is really the big puzzle until now.

Concept of NoFollow. Understanding this nofollow concept takes time. This concept, also called do not follow, is a google mechanism so introduced to fight spam and also to enhance the searching quality of visitors and to remove false links. The tag attribute rel=”nofollow” does not give any credit to links that are connected to it and also remove from others the benefit of linking with a high page rank website.

There are fanatics of actual search engine optimization or SEO that makes use of this kind of attribute in most of the links that they have in their site. They are also hoping to have clean tactics and eventually not lose their high page rank. This page rank is valuable and should be taken care of.

Concept of DoFollow. It is actually the exact opposite of nofollow or those site without the tag attribute rel=”nofollow”.

What is the next step then? I would recommend not following everything as it is not the right answer if you should follow the nofollow or the dofollow. The corporate links are not advised to be followed as most of these links are unrelated. Links on those that are related to your blog or better have a blogroll with those trusted blogs or links or link with your blogger friends as follow. In this case, a dofollow should be done.

In whatever case of no follow you do with your blog, it is better to seek out others first just to be sure you are doing the right thing.

Things in Making or Breaking a Website

There are sites that visitors like very much, but still they do not like to buy. It is hard to assess what really pays off and which sites do not.

Here are five aspects that, in my opinion, may break or make a site successful.

Not so Good Site Design. Many other websites are nicely designed in order to enable visitors to go to your site. If there is already site traffic, visitors will judge your site as how the site is designed professionally. If it looks otherwise, or if it is tough to navigate, most likely that site visitors will not trust you enough with their money. Better learn about modifying your website by teaching yourself a little about HTML. Moreover, I guarantee you it is a little easy once you get the hang of tinkering with the HTML in your own site.

Traffic at a Low Level. There are many ways to increase your traffic like the PPC, social networking sites or even article marketing. Articles will usually send people to the blog or site and eventually there will be different offers on other webpages linked from your own blog. Believe me, it works. Better try the different social networking sites, but it will take lots of patience on your part to submit your links to these networking sites.

Problems in copywriting. Bad copywriting will definitely destroy the site sales, and will increase sales if it is good. The prospect should be told on how the product will enhance their life for the better by promoting its benefits. It is better if one could check the errors in grammar and spelling if there is any. Other people judge sites through the usage of the words and how you write including grammar and spelling. Make sure to make it right. If one will rewrite an article, the copy should be rewritten to the best of one’s ability and somebody should proofread the work.

Make untargeted traffic not your traffic. For instance, if you have a Persian cat website, making use of the word “cats” as the keyword in Adwords is not a good idea. In the end, paying for lots of traffic and few interested people is not what is intended. A targeted traffic is better than the general traffic. In addition, if specific items are aimed to be sold, it is better if the targeted traffic is sent directly to the webpage of the specific item on the site that will show them the item that they are looking for.

There are no specific rules in making a successful site, but by experiencing these things I mentioned above by far are from the familiarity and the know-how of the people who are successful in their sites.

The Implementation of Video Search Engine Optimization

In implementing video search engine optimization (VSEO), the filenames should be catchy and relevant to the intended phrase or keyword. And in uploading the video sitemap, more keywords and phrases will most likely be indexed and founded by the major search engines. Better add meta data to the video files so that the campaigns of search engine optimization will be used.

If the video content is added to other external sites like You Tube, just make sure that the video will be linked back to one’s own site. Video linking to important keywords all over the website will enhance the value of the video as well.

Branding in the video should be displayed in order to increase awareness of the brand. Video transcripts are also advisable to be added in order to make the content more credible to the webpage and so that more important information will be crawled by the spiders. The video transcripts should be related to the keywords, the video brand and its appropriate content.

To keep most audiences interested in the uploaded videos, better make it short and concise. If the video is long, maybe breaking it down into smaller parts will be better so that more video content quality will be optimized. It is also wise to give the chance for the site visitors to rate the video that was uploaded.

Important Reasons Why We Need to Use Video Search Engine Optimisation

Promoting one’s online content is becoming very important in the world of search engine optimization or SEO. In 2009, it is foreseen that video search engine optimization or VSEO will boost up tremendously. Video portals like You Tube, www.youtube.com, and submission site like Tube Mogul, www.tubemogul.com, make it easier for each one of us to upload our videos in the web.

At present, videos are now included in the outcome pages of search engines thus links and other source options are added to one’s website and brand name. Websites with video are indexed fast and ranked heavily by key search engines. Duplication of video content on third party websites like You Tube is allowed without suffering from any penalties on duplicate content.

Remember to give the key search engines something to crawl about. Better to pick or make a video that is closely related to the content of the website and such information will make the visitor stick to the site and will add more weight to it. Do not add a video that is not connected with the site, just for the sake of adding a video, and it will just confuse the readers.

Video adding allows more web pages to optimize phrases and keywords that are relevant with the content of the web page. Relevance of the videos with the content of the site is important as well. Videos make it easier to add fresh, new and vibrant content to the site.

Traffic will increase and search rankings for a specific page will definitely improve by embedding videos in the pages. Most search engines make use of many different factors to establish the importance of ranking of an online specific page. The length of a visitor session on a page will increase if one embeds a video. The longer time a visitor stays on a site is interpreted by Google as the page has an increased value, meaning higher ranking in search engines.

It is vitally important to make the video content on your site be able to be search by most search engines, which can be done through the usage of sitemaps, media RSS and RSS feeds. The introduction of Google called Video Sitemaps will index the content of the video. If the files of the video are correctly labeled, this is essential to the search engines.

More information about video sitemaps may be accessed here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/topic.py?topic=10079

More Ways to Work More Efficiently From Home

Working from home has plenty of benefits and advantages, but bear in mind there are also some drawbacks. Here are some tips on how to make working from home a smooth experience for you.

Always dress up. You do not have to be in formal attire, but rather you may dress in a comfortable outfit. The manner you look and dress will affect your productivity and attitude toward work as well. And the changing of your outfit will distinguish yourself psychologically between work and home which is an important distinction while working from home.

Make a separate office. Your work area should be a little bit separated so that there will be little distraction as much as possible and increase in productivity will follow. You may work either in the family room or from the kitchen counter.

Put a little discipline concerning break times. Give yourself a little break in between work, maybe around 10 minutes is enough to watch television for a while. There is a need for discipline and time management and this need becomes greater especially if you are on your own. Periods of time should be fixed when you work and you should stick to this break time faithfully.

Restrain yourself regarding eating snacks. There is the tendency to eat more when you are at home. It is very easy to go to the kitchen to get a snack. Too much of these will destroy your productivity and also your waistline. Better exercise discipline and good judgment.

Get another phone line for the business. Whether you are an employee or you work on your own, it is advisable to get a separate phone line for your business. If you have an answering machine or service, better make sure that it is working and the quality of the greeting is good.

Educate your family and follow guidelines. If you have your family living with you, whether your spouse, parents or children, make sure they know about this work-at-home arrangement. It is hard but they should know that even if you are at home, you are home working. Hindrances like knocking on the door to take care of domestic tasks or emergencies will not make it possible for you to complete your work in time. Guidelines must be set and followed always.

Determine your start and stop period. Working from home will assist in the balance between your work and life, as what other people think. This is especially true as long as you know how to maintain the distinction. If you fail in making such difference, the balance between your work and life will become even worse than before as you will not be able to know when to stop working and start your home life. When the work period stops, do stop and steer clear of your office work area.

Regularly communicate with your boss. Avoid the situation “Out of sight, out of mind”. Better make sure that your superior knows about your undertakings. If your work schedule requires you to be physically present in an actual location twice a week, better meet your boss as well so that he will know what you’ve been up to. If not, tell your boss about your successes and your projects either via e-mail or phone. Avoid the less chances of promotion and increase of salary via lowered visibility.

Reach the Goal of Saving Money and Minimize Spending

Hey, come on. The holidays are fast approaching. I think we should be able to do something in terms of the expenses that will be incurred during his season. Yes, you will not be able to avoid costs for this matter as it is a time for celebrating and for reunions. Here are some tips on how to plan your upcoming expenditures for the holiday season and the years to come. Better add also other costs like birthday parties, payments for insurance, taxes which are paid annually and the holiday gifts as well.

Earn extra. If you are a student, you may be able to get some sidelines or be employed part-time throughout the year. That will help save up for the holidays next year. Whatever amount your earn must be set aside for the expenses of the holiday season.

Making use of your credit card wisely. Either your credit card can be your best friend or your very worst enemy, that is depending on how you make use of your card. You can use it to your advantage if you use your card responsibly. Some cards offer cash rebates and reward points that may be exchange later on for airline miles or other such items.

Be personal. Create gifts that are homemade. Do this during your free time so that you will not be cramming for the holiday season. Designing t-shirts for your friends will have a personal touch that will be very appreciated.

Make big sacrifices on such small stuff. Do not be spendthrift so that you will have enough money all throughout the year in order to avoid for you to reach your credit limit on your cards. I know that will not be such a big sacrifice. Try not to spend on your regular Frappuccino, for example, will help save you more money for next year, which may be your holiday budget.

Schedule your purchases. You should schedule your gift buying before the holiday season. Take advantage of the mall-wide sales or other flea markets all throughout the year. It will save you a lot of money and stress as well.

Help the poor. Try to purchase stuff from groups that are cause-oriented like the bazaars and other worthy, charitable project. It will be a much more meaningful way for you to celebrate the holidays not only because you are trying to save money but also you will also help make the world a better place to live in.

The Highest Unemployment Rate in the US

There are many hungry and unemployed Americans nowadays, and the numbers are the highest in a fifteen year period. The users of food stamp hit the record of 31.6 million or a ratio of 1 to 10 Americans.

More than half a million workers in the US were displaced in their jobs in November, and it is said to be the largest loss of employment in one month since the year 1974. It had a negative effect on the market, and the Dow closed up at 260 points. The unemployment rate was up to 6.7 percent which is the highest in 15 years. As stated in the video, Dedrick Muhammad of the Institute for Policy Studies said that the 6.7 per cent mentioned does not include the underemployed and those who discontinued looking for work.

Please do watch the video to find out more on what I am talking about.

Great Opportunities during these Trying Times

The world is now in its crucial stage of rebuilding from the present financial state of chaos. The experience is like a very big tsunami that never happened before. You may say that this situation never brings danger and harm to human lives, but admit it; it does bring damage to financial wealth directly.

Since last year, many lost much of their wealth during this financial crisis. Some say the worst is yet to come in 2009. Those who invested in stocks like the investors in India, China and Hong Kong, experienced more defeat than those who invested in bonds. There are those who stayed in cash and who are in an out-of-danger situation from this crisis. Most of the companies now are in a downward trend and if this continues until the next year, some properties are seen going down in value. Moreover, the reality will come when people will start selling off their real estate property.

You may ask yourself, “Who should be blame for all these crises?” Possibly the banks, whom we trusted well, plays a great role in this chaos and they paid heavily for their mistakes. Most of the banks worldwide are always trading at half of their values and some are trading at 20% of their high value. It is a good thing the US federal government bailed out one of the banks like Citibank or else this bank will still be in trouble until now. Let us see if the investors and bank will learn a lesson from all of this.

It is very important that a leader of a nation has the intention in solving poverty and in that micro entrepreneurs and small businesses will be able to move up the financial ladder. Good governance is the key and an entrepreneurship revolution is what everybody needs. I think more men and women should be able to realize that the answer to problems on poverty is the formation of more business. More businesses mean more employment and improvement of lives of the people.

We must work together as one, whether we are in the public or private sector to be able to support the enterprising leaders and other people in our own location.

How to Start Your Home-Based Job

With the downtrend of the economy worldwide nowadays, I know you may be interested in starting your own microfinance business. You may like to consider some of these tips. In many cases, working from home will be a more satisfying experience than working in an office.

Setting up your home as office. You may register as a single proprietorship or partnership if you have a partner with you in your home-based job. And then you need to spend an amount of money to convert a certain portion in your house as the office.

You may also purchase office tables, personal computer, office supplies, airconditioner as well as a fax machine. Subscription to an internet provider is recommended and a separate budget fee as payment for electricity.

Decide on a fixed work schedule. Do set up a strict schedule for you to work. You may want to work while the kids are in school and when the home chores are done. Meeting schedules may be scheduled a few times per week or lunch meetings are also appropriate.

Be professional. Even if you are working from home, that doesn’t mean that you have to be unprofessional in terms of dealing with your customers. Professionalism is called for at all times. But there are some people who consider those working from home as less than professional. It is otherwise, I know so.

Outsourcing may help you in other non-essential tasks. If you can do every task on hand at home, then that is okay. But there will be instances that you may like to get additional work from someone so that he may be able to help you. Others get a messenger to regularly deliver documents or publications to clients.

Come up with the formula for a right balance. Work-life balance is easily achieved by working from home. This is the right opportunity for the family members to understand your work and they will further be able to respect the time that you give into your home-based work. It will be as if you are still in the office, working within the office hours and at the same time give the utmost attention your family will need.

Trillions of Dollars Pledge in the Economic Bailout

The bailout that the US federal government pledged for the US financial institutions amounts to $8.5 trillion so far. This is due to the ever worsening credit crisis. The federal government is just trying to help boost the financial condition of the weakening institutions that was hit hard by such deadly assets.

The federal government seems to change the figure needed drastically as the pledge now reach more than $8 trillion as compared with the previous bailout announcement of $700 billion.

Joining A Social Network

Social networks seem to be a trend nowadays in the internet. Social networking sites like the MySpace, Friendster, Facebook or LinkedIn all have evolved since then and is now more than what they were back then.

Now you can do more with a social network than meet people or exchange pictures. You can even add videos or find old friends and many more. Even the layout of your profile can now be changed.

Meet new people. The main reason why social networking sites evolved is to find new friends via the net. You can meet and find new people from all over the world. You may make as many friends as you can, and it all depends on your accessibility to a computer. These sites have different ways to make online friends.

Find old friends. I myself make use of the social networking sites to find old friends. For example I tried to find a person named Dennis Carey. The network brings several results about the name. Dennis Carey is a senior software Engineer, a consultant, even a Program Manager and had a vast experience working in the IT industry. A social networking and the benefits of joining it may well provide that and all of the details that have relevance in his personality and business background.

It is also an opportunity to find your friends from way back. You can just type their name and be able to find them, that is, if they are in that site. I tried to find my friend in LinkedIn as I know that he is right now a professional already and there is a close possibility that he is located in the said site. You can just join in the networking site and create your profile, and start your searching.

Photo albums may be created and photos are shared. Just add up all your photos like in Friendster and MySpace and group them into albums. Almost all networks have photo albums and can then be turned into a slideshow. These photo albums will come in handy especially if your family and relatives come from all over the world.

Added videos is an added feature. Aside from adding pictures, videos can be combined too together with your pictures. Your friends whether old or new, will appreciate all what you put in your profile. You may also create your own video and add it up as well to your profile in the network.

Everyone needs a sense of belongingness. Admit it or not, each one of us wants to belong or feel wanted. In joining a social network, you will be able to create your own group of friends. In no time at all, you will feel that you are in the right place.

Some More Money Lessons

Money is not connected with Personal Values. Having lots of money or very little has no relation at all with the person’s values. However, having money or none will show the true nature and intentions of a person especially if pressure is building up. If the intentions or the values are not so good, it may not be revealed until it is too late. Same thing with a person with good values---they may not show their true worth until the total amount of money are really that significant.

Money is easy to come to those who know how to handle it. Education about money is what matters. If one is properly educated about money, the more money will come into your life. School education does not teach money lessons; normally this kind of education is learned from what your family has taught you over the years. And it is really up to you on how you will be that financially literate and how you will apply what you have learned in the right way.

Money doesn’t have to entail much effort. The concept of money is either you are working for the money or your money is working for you. Such concept shows that income can be generated from trading or not trading your time and effort for it. In the future, you can do both possibilities until you will reach your goal wherein you do not have to work for the money or when you reach the so-called financial independence, like what is illustrated in the Stone Evans profile on Warrior Forums. Remember that people who are financially free or those free from having to work for a living means that the person has the time to be actively involved in helping other people everyday and every hour to the best of their ability.

The more money you earn, the more money you will give to others. Being rich is not being greedy and hoarding money, plus the fact that you cannot bring your money in the afterlife. The amount you earn doesn’t matter while you are alive as your money will be passed on to the next generation. What is important is the lessons you impart to others on how to handle money during your lifetime.

Money can provide a person both security and freedom. My knowledge is that financial independence has the power to provide both freedom and security in life. It is the freedom of always doing what you want and the financial security of not being apprehensive of how to get along with others, even stretching and making most of the few resources that you have.

Money is not limited; it is infinite. There is the myth of more money to one means less money to others. That is definitely not true. True wealth and money expands every second and doesn’t pertain to receiving other people’s money. It is all about creating more abundance and money all over the world. Demolishing things with value is what destroys wealth while generating assets eventually means feeding more wealth.

That’s why it is always a question of what is your most valued priorities in life, having lots of money or having lots of peace of mind? Whatever it is just make sure that it always brings you happiness and comfort for you and your family.

Lessen your Expenses, Maximize your Income!

Try to ask around even in allvoices, and you will learn that most people cannot save nowadays because their income cannot cover much of their needs. This is especially true among those earning minimum wage, whose small salaries can hardly support their living expenses and their respective families. But no matter how small your income, there are many creative ways to further lessen your expenses and increase as well as maximize your income.

Here are some ways to cut your living expenses.

Choose your lifestyle. You may want to discuss this topic with your family and you will be amazed with the saving ideas that will pop up. Your family and yourself have to take it in stride and accept whatever lifestyle you can afford to have and also the kind of lifestyle you want to have in the future especially when you are no longer earning such active income. Such realistic financial plan will only be done if you also apply proper spending habits.

Buy only the needful, and buy the best that you can afford. Decide on the best quality there is on the item that you will choose at the best price offered. Make use again and again your old furnitures and other things in the house that is still functioning well, as it will minimize expenses at home. Avoid unhealthy foods as much as possible. It will add up to the family’s expenses and is also bad for the health.

Read and follow the good and applicable saving tips. It is good for you to research more on some tips on how to save electricity, water, telephone, gasoline and other utilities. There are advertisements asking you to waste more money so that you can set aside some amount. Be careful of that kind of advertisements. Ask yourself always if you really need the product stated in the advertisement. It may be a want, instead of a need. I admit I myself am always a victim of such unscrupulous advertisements.

Start now. Many people thought that they can still save up for their retirement anytime they desire to do so. They don’t realize that it will become very hard to aspire for a much comfortable retirement if all they do is to spend most of their money in one-time purchases. Most young people in their 20s save for a house or a car or wedding and even for the education of their children. They will only think of saving up for their retirement upon reaching their 40s and 50s.

It is not easy to start saving when you reach that age. You will have the tendency to cut your monthly income by as much as fifty percent and you are almost near your retirement already. It will be alarming if you are not used to this kind of set up. And this may worsen if you retire and the amount you have saved is not enough for the lifestyle that you are used to.

Continued savings is very important. Keep on saving even if you spend for your needs and wants. In the end, your savings, if it is invested well, will eventually grow to give you financial independence.

How to Break the Bad Spending Routine and Shopping Wisely

Set long-term goals. Let me see---you are spending big money on such small purchases like the vending machine snacks, sodas or coffee? Well, here is a simple way to stop the habit. It is better to pick what you really want, like an emergency fund, getting out of debt, or a much-needed vacation. Tell yourself always this goal every time you like and feel tempted to spend money on not so necessary things. Then save your money in a safe place, like in a bank. In the long run, you will be able to enjoy your much hard-earned money or you are in a beach somewhere in Hawaii enjoying your vacation. Your habit breaking will be so rewarding.

Pay Cash Only. Avoid using credit cards as much as possible. You tend to overspend in using such cards. Make it a point to always leave your credit cards at home and always prefer to pay cash only or use debit cards for all what you buy.

Get Used to Shopping with a List. Most of us go inside a store with the purpose of shopping for just a few items and we end up with huge bags containing different shopping stuff. Fortunately, this situation can be fixed when you go shopping with a list. It is really up to you on how you will strictly follow the list that you have. Bear in mind to be honest with your list and jot down everything that you really need. If you are tempted to buy something not in the list, just make a note so that you can add it to the next shopping list.

Differentiate between your Needs and Wants. If you see a product, ask yourself first if you really need the product before deciding to make a final purchase. If you really need the product and are within your budget, then proceed and purchase it. However, if it is a want, give it a second even a third thought and decide on the impact if you purchase such product. Your purchases will have an impact in your life; be sincere about it and determine if the product you really want is worth the asking price.

If Possible, Shop with a Basket. It is better to avoid the trap of spending more when you take a cart when you shop. Taking a cart shows you have a lot to buy. Instead, grab a basket or simply just carry your items. The tendency is if you have a cart, you will be tempted to shop and shop as there is so much space to fill in your shopping cart.

Let another Person do the Shopping for you. Yes, this setup applied to me personally. Let someone else shop for you. Just do your shopping list and give it to someone you trust. You will be able to avoid the items that you will shop impulsively in the store if you stay at home.

Start a Cooling Off Period. This will help you a lot especially if you see a big, expensive item or gadget. Start a 24-hour cooling off period and it will give you enough time whether the item is really a need and if you can afford the said gadget. With reputation monitoring made easy, you can even review online about the item you most especially like to purchase. But if after 24 hours, you still think about purchasing it, then go ahead and buy your much-coveted gadget.

Bring Along a Shopping Friend. A shopping friend can be your buddy or a family member who can voice out their opinion if you are about to make a purchase. Make sure to shop only when they can go with you. This tip will be helpful for those who have shopping impulses. If you have a mobile phone with you, I suggest you can still go ahead with your shopping alone, but better call your friend if you are in a middle of the shopping turmoil.

Provide Yourself a Shopping Allowance. Check your budget and make a decision on how much you can allot for your own shopping allowance. Take this amount from your bank account at the start of the week or every month; you can spend it without any guilt feeling. Always remember that if the money is gone, the shopping also stops with no exceptions.

Study your Shopping Selections. Let us say you are in a store and falling in line in the cashier counter already. I suggest you study the items that you are about to buy. Check if you have all the items already that you plan to buy and also inspect if there are items that you should return or maybe purchase it the next time you shop. Continue editing your choices until you make a final decision about them. In that way, you will be able to go out of the store with a clear conscience.

Some Money Lessons

Money is a choice and an idea. It is what you believe it is and the reality is it is telling you that it is. Money depends on what you think about it. If in your opinion money is fun to gain and you always love to talk about how to get better at it, then that is the role of money plays in your life. If you think that the topic of money is bad or evil and you should not talk about it, then that is the connection that you have with money.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that money is better or superior than another. It really depends on the choice of a person. Better ensure that you don’t automatically accept the money as a true choice as a basis on what you think and believe what money really is for.

If money is not important in your life, it follows that being rich isn’t that important either. Bring financially abundant will be a natural thing to do if the way you handle money productively is that important to you. Every person has the impending probability in shifting their desire towards money.

Money will not make you rich and it has the power to make you both poor and rich. Being poor, rich or middle-class is all just a question of mind-set. The way one handles money is showing the mind-set classification that a person has.

A good case of what I am illustrating is when a person suddenly obtains a big sum of money. If the person who receives that kind of money is poor, he will eventually end up as a poorer person and if he is a rich person, he will end up as a richer person.

Money problems cannot be solved by money alone. That is the reason why I just don’t lend money to anyone because I know that it would do more harm than good for both parties. Our relationship will eventually suffer in the end even if the intention is to help a friend in need. And giving money will not help either. It is better to advice your friend the ways to eliminate money problems in a proactive manner and is a more productive way to help someone also.

Let us face it that each one of us has money problems whether the middle class, the rich, the government, the poor, the elderly, the young, and even companies. It is the issue of no money or the issue of excess money. Bear in mind that we all have different financial situations and such situations have different scales of money problems.

The statement saying “money is the root of all evil” or “the love for money is the root of all evil” seems not to be correct, don’t you think? I think the said statements are not that accurate as compared with “the lack of money is the root of all evil”.

People commit crimes like drug dealing resulting to riots, emotional instability, perilous situations, deprived health care, ignorance because of poor education, and many more. It is a fact that people need to address the major needs in order to live.

What I know is that there is a connection between happiness and money, but money alone cannot order unhappiness or happiness. There are even unhappy rich people, and happy rich people, and happy poor people and unhappy poor people. However, there will be a temporarily feeling that not having any money will make one unhappy and getting more money will make one happy.

Being unhappy is not therefore, relevant compared to the wealth of the rich people and this thinking will make you stop in reaching your goal to be rich. One may choose the happiness level and it is useless to conclude to think that rich people are considered always as unhappy people.

Setting Apart your Needs and Wants

Most of us don’t know the difference between our wants and our needs, so the tendency is we tend to live beyond our means. We sometimes feel the urge to buy something we think we need and most often than not pressure from family or friends or even the society tells us to follow our urges. And usually the realization comes too late when we only want and not really need what we already bought and spent for.

The basic examples of needs are clothing, house we live in, and food. These are man’s basic requirements in order for us to live. We need food for energy supplied in our body so that we can work or study effectively. We need a place to sleep in and we need clothes to wear at home, in the office or in school. Other possible basic needs are education, health protection, life insurance, transportation and other forms of leisure and entertainment for life balance. Living without these needs makes life more difficult and not worth living. So many people all over the world are living without these basic needs.

Below are the most basic needs that will help us live comfortably.

Food
Simple, nutritious food cooked at home is a need. Fancier food, usually cooked in a restaurant, is really a want. There are cases in which it is cheaper to buy food rather than cook, especially if you live on your own. The secret is to choose which option will give you nutritious food at the lowest cost.

Clothing
You need clothes that are clean, neat and are suited for your daily activities. You do not need expensive designer clothes.

Housing and Utilities
A room or a house big enough for you and your family, with simple furniture, a basic stove, small TV set and a telephone or a simple cell phone are needs. It is okay to rent a house if that is all you can afford to day. It is still a need to own a simple house eventually. A big house, expensive furniture, a home entertainment system and a sophisticated cell phone are wants.

Transportation
Enough money to be able to go to work and return home is a need. Owning a bicycle, a motorcycle or a car are usually wants. But there are cases in which it will cost you less to own a car than pay for a jeepney, a bus, a taxi or an MRT ride. When this happens, then the vehicle is a need. It is all right to buy it if you can afford it.

Education/Insurance
Education, health insurance and life insurance, especially if you have a family dependent on you, are needs. Higher education and better insurance coverage may fall into the wants category, depending on your status in life. If you wish to achieve more in your profession but cannot afford to enroll in a prestigious school, then you have the option to take short courses. In a very real sense, choosing what course to take and what school to get into is an investment decision. Quality education is not necessarily expensive. The cost of education must be weighed against what you stand to earn out of that investment.

When you acquire insurance, make sure the plan suits your objective and is consistent with your capacity to pay.

Leisure/Travel/Parties
We need a simple recreation to balance our life and help us copy with stress. There are many things we can do for free to keep our minds off our work and our problems. We can go to free public concerts or borrow books, magazines or newspapers and read them for leisure and for education. Many offices allow surfing the internet before and after office hours. You can arrange a gathering with friends by asking them to bring food for sharing, or take your bike to the park to catch the fresh morning breeze. It becomes a want if you start spending for a leisure activity.

Travel and big parties are only for those who already have passive income to spend. You should never use your active income to pay for a vacation trip or for holding a big party.

In the end, always remember that active income can buy only your needs. Passive income can buy both your needs and your wants. Never use your active income to buy your wants.

Competing with Others in Business

Hey, I think there is nothing wrong with a little competition especially in business. Competition is healthy. What do you think? But when you feel the need to compete and struggle to be the best, I think that is the time that competition tends to become a liability.

Being flexible occasionally means that you are not number one. At times when you are competing you will need to take a step backward for a friend or companion who is trying to be innovative. It means you just need to negotiate or compromise.

There are people who live in full competition with everyone; they are admired for such achievements, but they are not attended and given support by other people. Such people convey that they are prettier or smarter or richer and they don’t gain trust of other people. Message projected is about “Me and Me first and foremost”.

In some instances, we are pushed to be more competitive like in companies that are into daring marketing clashes with competitors in a global way.

Here is a tip if you feel the need for that streak of competitiveness blocking your way in dealing with others and your loved ones. It is better if you see the other person as a friend and colleague, and not as an opponent. The relationship should be as a friendship, as a mentoring one and the ability to do things together and as a team, and wherein neither of you can do the given task alone.

It is better if you look directly into the eyes of the person and see the fellow human being as a person who doesn’t want to be a loser more than you do. Remember that people who are always on the lookout to win may really collect lots of recognition, but will eventually lose a lot of friends. And I think it is much better to have more friends than lose them in the long run.

Joe the Plumber and the Presidentiables

The US presidential elections is fast approaching and admit it or not, this election will greatly affect the world whether we like it or not.

Some independent voters mentioned that all the debates held with Senator John McCain were won by Senator Barack Obama. I think a change of the game plan is all what Senator McCain need in this last phase of the presidential campaign.

This video depicts the last presidential debate between the two candidates, and once again the debate was awarded to Obama. The strategy of Obama was to stay calm and cool as he explained his plans.

The viewers pointed out though that they watched the debate as “pure theater”, as the candidates didn’t even bother to tackle on the serious issues in the real world. With the raging present financial crisis and recession which may last for as long as two years, they were expecting to see how the candidates will be able to deal with the problem at hand even if just through a debate.

How to Shop in an Uber Tight Budget Cushioning the Bailout Effects

The citizens of the United States of America are minimizing on their expenses because of the staggering economy. In fact, some say that they are doing this for many years now.

Based in this video taken by the McClatchy Newspapers and the American News Project, some locals of the eastern Pennsulvanian town were interviewed and how they are coping with present credit and economic crisis.

With the current crisis, prices of commodities most especially food are also rising. Shelter, clothing and food are at the top list of the basic needs of humans. The increase in the cost of transportation generates the increase in food cost and will eventually put a toll in the wallets of the consumers.

What do we need to do about it then...

Here are some steps to keep up with the costs of rising food which I hope will be of use to you.

* Keep away from previously prepared foods. Everyone knows convenience is very much encouraged especially nowadays and the groceries stores are capitalizing on this. We can easily see and buy ready-made meals, but it is more expensive as compared to foods that you prepare yourself. Instead of buying these meals that are utterly convenient, it is better to buy the ingredients and to prepare the meal yourself.

* Avoid Eating Outside. Try to eat at home and enjoy a nutritious meal made at home and it will be cheaper on your part. It is better to avoid eating outside nowadays, including drinking good coffee, as you can do it yourself at home at a most convenient price.

* Before you shop, eat first. There will always be the tendency that you will be able to buy expensive and unnecessary foods if you walk into a mall or building and you are hungry. Try to eat first before you go shopping.

* Buy in huge volume. Buying in bulk will be able to save you considerable amount of money. Bear in mind the prices of the family size package of the products that you will purchase and compare them with the unit cost of a single product if it is much lower. And also be sure that you have a place to store your bulk purchases. Other stores don’t offer any bargains to big boxes so better make sure to compare the prices of the sales. And always check your spending habit as buying in bulk may encourage you to buy more than what you need, thus it will go overboard your budget.

* Arrange your shopping in advance. Make a shopping list on what you will buy before going shopping. If you do impulsive shopping, you will end up filling your cart with everything and anything that catches your eye. Instead of saving money, you will spend more money than what is previously budgeted. It is also advisable to plan your home meals for one week and take note of those you just need to buy to prepare those meals.

* Do not bring the kids with you while shopping. Kids naturally tend to fill up your grocery cart as they grow tired and cranky and hungry while you are shopping. So naturally you tend to give in to their wishes of providing them their preferred snacks in order to keep them quiet while you go on shopping.

* Look Down. This is a good tip which I know not everybody knows. Observe that most stores tend to place their most expensive goods at eye level. You have to look down to look for cheaper products. Also try to look for alternative and cheaper generic products in exchange for the branded products that you always get. Other times, you only pay for the packaging of the product which really counts so that the product price tends to go up.

* Pay Cash. It is better to pay in cash always. Believe me, I’ve been in that kind of predicament. When you use your card, you tend to pay interest on the purchase made if you don’t pay your card in full every month. Try to pay in cash when you go shopping and avoid charging the necessities in your credit cards.

* Check your Bill. Be sure to check always your bill. There will be a tendency of the scanners not being perfect at all. Taking a look at your receipt may help you a lot.

Careful smart shoppers will be able to minimize the amount spent on the purchase of food. All it takes is a little patience, time and effort.

The Bailout that costs as much as the Iraq War

Here is a video showing the bailout at the Wall Street and it will cost the taxpayers the amount of almost $1 trillion. It is almost the same cost incurred during the Iraq war.

Further, as mentioned in my previous post, the American International Group Inc. (AIG) is also included in the list of companies integrated in the bailout. And based on what I read in one of the online newspapers, the AIG hosted a party worth $440,000 after the bailout. I think this is too much for the taxpayers. Normally it is okay for a company to celebrate, but amidst all the news and fresh from the bailout decision, I think AIG has no right to have a party that costs too much. Throwing away $440,000 amidst the crisis that is still unresolved is way too inhuman.

As mentioned by Rep. Henry Waxman, the committee’s chairman, “the average Americans are suffering economically and they are losing their homes, their jobs and health insurance. But in less than a week after the taxpayers rescued AIG, the executives of AIG were found dining and wining in one of the most exclusive resorts in the country.”

This is not a definitely good sign and is not very appropriate in today’s time.
