How Can You Recognize a Rich Person?

Will you be able to recognize a rich person? If you see a man drive the latest model of a BMW, what would the first thing that came into your mind? Of course, we will assume he’s rich. And when we see a man drive an old model of a Chevy car, we say he is poor as a rat.

Realities of Life. The BMW is probably leased, maybe no down payment and payable in three years, so the monthly lease payment would probably be more than $1,000. But we don’t know anything about his background and his net worth.

What about the man driving the old car? We can say he is struggling financially. But there is a possibility that his income is just as great as the man in the BMW, and he is not burdened with a monthly lease payment. He probably invested his money in mutual funds that has an interest of 10% a year.

Well, the biggest obstacle in becoming rich is when one is living like you are rich before you become one. Why is that? The extravagant spending (the fancy apartment, frequent restaurant and fine dining meals, purchase of latest electronic items, fancy clothes and cars) replaced the savings that will enable you to be rich someday.

People often complain; you might hear them whine everyday that they cannot purchase their own home because of the huge down payment required. But when you look at their budgets carefully, you can see that they will be able to make a down payment in less than five years, that is, if they reduce their spending sprees and if their high expectations are much more realistic.

The recent immigrants (from Africa, Asia, Latin America or even Eastern Europe) are masters of this. Most of these persons don’t have enough money when they first arrived in the USA. They tend to work many hours with modest wages and they send some of their earnings to their relatives back to their home country. But they have enough money left every month since they always live simply and within their means.

You may see them join others in crowded housing. And with their savings, they could buy a home in a not-so-good neighborhood. They fix their house, rent out the rooms to other friends and relatives, and then trade it up to an even nicer home. They have the option of keeping their first and second homes to rent it out to others, making them landlords themselves.

Invisible Rich. Eventually they become part of the Invisible Rich where their net worth is more impressive than their income. They live within their means and sleep well as they do not have anything to worry about loans and attention from other fellow citizens. Living in a lavish situation yet full of financial worries is not living rich at all.

They rather keep a low profile and not show off their wealth as it will invite many problems. Always remember it is not how much you make, but how much you keep. Most of the rich persons don’t always flaunt off their wealth and they live below their means.

A rich person is easily distinguishable in the way he does things. He is relaxed, composed, and at ease. He does not have to be always on the run. In other words, you will recognize a rich man if he is always on the relax mode.

Self-made millionaires have very little time to watch movies or even exercise. They utilize 12 hour working days as they work 24/7. They do bulk shopping, and they do the things non-rich people do not do. They always aim for the goal not only to make themselves rich, but also they try to make the next generations rich as well.

Being rich can’t be distinguished on a full pocket alone, but the real wealth are manifested through affluent disposition in life.
