The Google Chrome Frame as an Internet Explorer Plug-In

Google has done it again! The Google Chromium Blog recently announced the launching of the Chrome Frame. It is a plug-in that is open-source enabling the Internet Explorer to run advanced web technologies like HTML5. The Chrome Frame also makes Microsoft be on its toes a little bit as it will be a way for Google to provide the loyal users of Internet Explorer a simple taste of Google Chrome.

But Microsoft said the Google Chrome Frame doubles the surface attack of Internet Explorer and is not acceptable with the Internet Explorer guys at Redmond.

Here is the official reaction of Microsoft:

“With Internet Explorer 8, we made significant advancements and updates to make the browser safer for our customers. Given the security issues with plug-ins in general and Google Chrome in particular, Google Chrome Frame running as a plug-in has doubled the attach area for malware and malicious scripts. This is not a risk we would recommend our friends and families take. For a deeper look at how the browsers stack up in security, take a look at the latest phishing and malware data from NSS Labs.”

Well, this Google video will explain the decision in releasing the Chrome Frame:
