The World’s Most Popular Password

It is very important to have your password to be secured. A good combination of proper characters and letters is best in creating a password. Using such a guideline, there are passwords that were created that are really very common. Well did you know that the password that is most popular is “123456”? And I even thought it was another password that was popular. I was wrong.

The analysts made a study on the insecure practices that were used and it was concluded that the most used passwords are those trivial dictionary words, short passwords, and those lacking the combination of numeric characters and capital and lower letters.

Some more major results mentioned that:

Around 30% of the users select the passwords wherein the length is less than or equal to six characters. Almost 60% of the users select their corresponding passwords from a very limited alphanumeric character set.

In 110 tries, a hacker will be able to access a new account on each second or around seventeen minutes to hack into about a thousand accounts. In addition, almost half the number of users utilizes slang words, dictionary words, names, or trivial passwords like adjoining keyboard keys, successive digits, among others.

The password that I thought to be the most popular belongs to the top 20 of the popularity of the password. After the famous “123456” follows “12345” and “123456789”.

Some more popular passwords on the list are as follows:

The rest of the passwords are rated by popularity:

Well one thing is for sure. Try to enforce the usage of stronger passwords like “long-term strategy” or maybe you can check out other lists on the internet to avoid making use of banned passwords. And always remember that “123456” is the first on the list of the most popular.
If you are aware of this list and you are careful of making any mistakes of selecting a password, bear in mind that strong passwords are just the same with the weak passwords if the computer you are using is infected with malware.
